Everyone seems to have an idea for a book, movie or TV show. Bringing those ideas to life, however, is the hard part. Author K.M. MacKinnon joins Tim and John to talk about what every writer knows: It’s tough to get into the publishing world. Her first book, “The Book of Our Past Lives” was self-published using the more traditional model—working with a copy editor, cover artist, and printing thousands of copies. Her latest work, “The Lesbian Guide For Straight Men on How To Make Love To A Woman,” is a tongue-in-cheek book of funny rhymes/tips meant to be a conversation starter. It’s also self-published, but using print-on-demand technology. There are pros and cons to both approaches, and either model offers a route to getting your work in the hands of readers. With an English Literature degree from UCLA, and years of experience, our interview with K.M. MacKinnon should not be missed.
