Jean Nidetch, the founder of Weight Watchers International, never dreamed that her weight-loss experience would lead to a successful international company that would help millions trim down. She once weighed more than 200 pounds, then slimmed down to 142 pounds in 1962 and has never been heavy again. Weight Watchers was founded in 1963, and while it still offers Nidetch’s original vision of support groups, over the years it has also became a major brand name in the packaged foods business.
