Lots of ground will be covered, and Leah’s experiences should relate to many other fields.

BrentJoshJosh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge, owners of Beekman 1802, and stars of “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” on Planet Green, join Tim and John this Saturday. New Yorkers for years, they have moved upstate to try and revive a farm and create a new organic lifestyle brand, Beekman 1802. For them, that turns out to mean wrangling pigs and wrapping 14,000 bars of organic goat milk soap—not a typical day in their previous New York life. But, as they said: “We believe that a farm can be much larger than its fences. If someone told us that we’d trade in New York City for eighty goats, two pigs, a dozen chickens and a narcissistic llama, we would have told them that they were crazy. It turns out that we are.”

booksEveryone seems to have an idea for a book, movie or TV show. Bringing those ideas to life, however, is the hard part. Author K.M. MacKinnon joins Tim and John to talk about what every writer knows: It’s tough to get into the publishing world. Her first book, “The Book of Our Past Lives” was self-published using the more traditional model—working with a copy editor, cover artist, and printing thousands of copies. Her latest work, “The Lesbian Guide For Straight Men on How To Make Love To A Woman,” is a tongue-in-cheek book of funny rhymes/tips meant to be a conversation starter. It’s also self-published, but using print-on-demand technology. There are pros and cons to both approaches, and either model offers a route to getting your work in the hands of readers. With an English Literature degree from UCLA, and years of experience, our interview with K.M. MacKinnon should not be missed.

The show will end with another edition of Tim’s List, so get ready to join the conversation at 866-305-6887.
