07.09.19 | Unbuttoned wraps up Pride 2019 with one feel good and two business stories. First, a British family with two young sons unexpectedly booked themselves on to Virgin Atlantic’s “Pride Flight.” The London to New York flight was organized to celebrate World Pride 2019 and mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. It featured drag queens, celebrity performances, singing and dancing, and plenty of glitter. The Powell family fully embraced the party atmosphere. Then, agency giant FCB claims it is resigning their Nivea Cream marketing duties after someone on the Nivea team said, “we don’t do gay.” Tim and John have their own take on the kerfuffle. Finally, we take a look at brands that stubbed their toe trying to reach the LGBTQ consumer in June.

It’s July already…Christmas decorations can’t be far behind as retailers move on to the next calendar opportunity to make money.
The most LGBT-friendly places to retire in America
06.26.19 | Some of the cities may come as a surprise, but these are the best places to retire for LGBT seniors according to Senior Advice. The show kicks off with a Pride care package filled with new Oreo flavors from a listener in Texas. Hell, Michigan is bought by a gay man and renamed Gay Hell, and snarky text messages sent to ex’s caught our eye.
TFG Unbuttoned: Being visible is still important for LGBTQ acceptance
06.25.19 | A married same sex couple received a heartwarming note from a teenager who is moving out of the area. The note thanked them for flying the rainbow flag on their residence and credited that visibility with giving the teenager the courage to come out. Joe and Jill Biden visit the Stonewall Inn in honor of World Pride and buy the patrons a round of drinks. And the President of the University of Central Arkansas had a sign in front of the campus library featuring this quote from Lady Gaga removed: “Being gay is like glitter, it never goes away.”

06.18.19 | Most Americans have an incorrect view of Federal Laws effecting LGBTQ citizens. We need to do a better job of educating everyone about the disparity of rights that the community continues to be subjected to. Then, a Dad offers hugs at Pittsburgh Pride and while humbled by the response, it also left him angry. Finally, The Beekman Boys come under criticism from some customers for donating to PFLAG. Really?

06.12.19 | In a town near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line, a group of mothers navigate raising LGBT children in a state where Republican lawmakers introduced six anti-LGBT bills—dubbed the Slate of Hate. A chess piece bought for $6 in 1964 was recently valued at $1.3 million, and scientists in India are studying why monkey’s there are killing people.
TFG Unbuttoned: US embassies hoist rainbow flags defying Washington
06.11.19 | The US State Department began rejecting all embassy requests to raise rainbow flags outside the mission buildings during Gay Pride Month this year, but some US diplomats have been finding ways to get around the new policy. Sir Ian McKellen launches Pride in Ageing, a UK program to support LGBT people over 50, and home flippers are hiring Uber and Lyft drivers to scout properties in a pricey housing market.
