11.13.18 | Following the midterm elections, Wilton Manors is now the second city in the United States following Palm Springs to have an all-LGBTQ city council—it also has the second highest percentage of same-sex couples following Provincetown, MA. Senior citizens are replacing teenagers as fast-food workers amid a tight U.S. labor market, and restaurant chains are recruiting at churches, senior centers and the AARP. Scotland will begin incorporating LGBTQ history and issues into a mandatory curriculum with no opt-outs or exemptions.

TFG Unbuttoned: Offensive remarks are an everyday reality for many LGBTQ people at work
10.30.18 | Based on a recent study, the Human Right Campaign revealed that 46% of LGBTQ workers are not out at work. The study sites examples of inappropriate questions and fear of exclusion as some of the reason’s LGBT workers are still cautious about bringing their full selves to work. Canada pulls a fast one on the USA by including language to protect workers against discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual orientation and gender identity in the latest North American Trade Agreement. And the Trump 2020 campaign is selling “LGBTQ for Trump” tees on their web site. You can’t make this stuff up!
Do unattractive people make more money?

Researchers have found that people who are “very unattractive” may be the biggest earners. Should all meetings, even the in-person ones, be video meetings? A book burner in Iowa targets LGBT children’s titles, and no one knew kangaroo meet was on the menu at a school in Nebraska.

10.17.18 | The top ten most stressed out states to live in might come as a surprise. Six factors were used to compile the list—long commute times, unemployment, hours worked, population density, home price-to-income ratio and the number of uninsured residents in each state. Police are not happy about googly eyes showing up on historic statues, and Tituss Burgess will host a London to New York Virgin Atlantic flight featuring drag queen bingo and live performances for WorldPride in June 2019.

10.16.18 | A group of pastors in Texas are suing the city of Austin to overturn an employment nondiscrimination ordinance, saying it doesn’t include an exemption for “employers who hold religious objections” to LGBTQ people. A London couple on honeymoon in Sri Lanka buys the hotel they were staying at after 12 glasses of rum each, and a white couple whose black babysitter was followed by a white woman and questioned by police said they were in disbelief about the incident.
